Within the field of Molecular Diagnostics (MD), the focus is on reliable and especially rapid laboratory results. Due to the specific characteristics and sensitivity of DNA and RNA, Molecular Diagnostics ensures both quality and speed in testing, always with patient care as the highest priority. Developments within this field evolve rapidly, and our specialists closely follow these advancements.

The department works closely with general practitioners and medical specialists to provide fast and accurate results, while maintaining a strong focus on excellent service for both healthcare professionals and patients.

 

The Medical Laboratories have been accredited since June 2016 according to the NEN-EN-ISO 15189 standard by the Dutch Accreditation Council (RvA) under the activity “TESTING,” registration number M297.

Central Role

The Molecular Diagnostics department at ADC is equipped with state-of-the-art technology and continuously implements the latest techniques and procedures.

As a result, the department plays a central role for other analytical departments within ADC. It provides services to the Clinical Chemistry & Hematology (KCH), Medical Microbiology (MMB), the Microbiological Water Laboratory, and recently also the Pathology department.

Disease Detection

The department is designed to provide diagnostic services for a wide range of infectious diseases, from sexually transmitted infections such as chlamydia, gonorrhea, herpes, and HIV, to pathogens causing gastroenteritis and other conditions.

To ensure optimal diagnostics, the MD department of ADC also offers various compact and comprehensive testing panels for complete investigation of viral meningitis, respiratory pathogens, and gastroenteritis. In addition, the department provides diagnostics for viruses such as Dengue, Chikungunya, and Zika.

Besides the services mentioned above, the department also offers diagnostics for hospital-acquired infections and monitoring of infectious diseases such as Hepatitis B and C. Panels are also available for the detection and quantification of various viral infections, including HIV, Epstein-Barr virus (EBV), BK virus, and CMV.
